Recordings
Orchestre Consuelo has been very active on the recording right from the start. Recording to promote, to transmit, to perfect a sound, to unite a group. For all these reasons, Victor Julien-Laferrière is committed to defending this aspect of the orchestra's activity, with the aim of making Consuelo a key player in its discography through ambitious co-productions and long-term partnerships.
After a first release in 2023 for the Mirare label, devoted to Brahms's Serenades, a 2-disc set of Tchaikovsky's complete orchestral suites will be released, a work that has not been included in any contemporary high-quality recordings.
At the same time, a 4-year live recording of Beethoven's symphonies is being made for the B.Records label, in co-production with the Chaise-Dieu Festival. The first opus, recorded in August 2023, will be released in August 2024.
BRAHMS - Serenades
Released in January 2023
Johannes Brahms’s two serenades cast a wistful glance onto the musical past. Still barely twenty-five years old, he had stumbled into a severe artistic crisis after his fairytale rise to European celebrity. Following the public failure of the D minor Piano Concerto, on which he had worked for five agonising years, he immersed himself in the stylistic world of Mozart, Haydn and Beethoven with the serenades, as if to throw off the high emotional pressure of the concerto and seek a new beginning in the symphonic genre.
